Reimagining Care: Parameswaran Hari, MD, MRCP

Parameswaran Hari, MD, MRCP

The most important thing in these tough times is to stay calm and focused to ensure that the fear of COVID-19 does not prevent the delivery of essential care for other diseases like cancer. At Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network, we have established processes and procedures to prevent virus transmission and safely take care of patients.

I have also been privileged to work with a pioneering team to investigate the use of convalescent plasma to battle COVID-19. The process behind this therapy involves extracting plasma from the blood of recovered COVID-19 patients. This plasma which contains antibodies against the virus is then infused into patients currently battling COVID-19 to help their immune systems fight the virus. This work is critical to helping push both individuals and the region as a whole into the recovery phase of the battle against COVID-19. I am proud to be on a team working to advance this important body of knowledge.
