Research Interests
Dr. Noorie Hyun joined the Division of Biostatistics in November 2017. Her methodological research and the majority of collaborative work address time-to-event data (particularly interval censored data) and complex probability samples in health science. She also has methodological research interests in synthesizing external information in using electronic health records to enhance statistical inference and unraveling health disparities using statistical approaches, eventually to improve population healthcare. She works as a biostatistician for the Center for Advancing Population Science.
Dr. Hyun's research focuses on developing statistical methods to tackle problems arising in healthcare and population science. Her methodological research and majority of collaborative work address time-to-event data (particularly interval censored data), and complex probability samples in health science. She has developed (1) semiparametric models for skewed and continuous biomarker data subject to measurement error; (2) semiparametric/spline risk prediction models for survival outcomes with the purpose of enhancing cancer screening and; (3) methodology for designing and analyzing complex probability samples with multi-stage stratified cluster designs and sample weights. In addition, she is also interested in synthesizing external information in using electronic health records to enhance statistical inference, eventually improving population healthcare. For collaborative research she has worked on cervical, lung, oral, and testicular cancers and diabetes, osteoporosis, kidney and respiratory disease.
