As a general internist, Dr. Singh cares for patients once they are hospitalized – either as their admitting physician or in a consulting role for their medical problems. In addition to treating their disease, he tries to help patients navigate the complex and hectic hospital environment, sort through the uncertainty of modern medicine and cope with the stress of an acute illness.

His clinical work forms the foundation for his research interests. He is interested in developing and studying ways of delivering high quality and efficient inpatient care. He is also interested in studying communication between providers and between providers and patients in the inpatient setting. He has an interest in patient safety, transitions in care and discontinuity within the hospital setting.

Dr. Singh also works for the Department of Clinical Affairs to develop clinical programs that are patient-centered, meaningful and durable, and to evaluate them to ensure that they keep pace with the rapidly evolving medical environment.
