Biography
Dr. John’s program of research centers on developing behavioral interventions and implementation strategies to support biomedical care engagement, particularly within HIV/STI treatment and prevention. He is a national expert in biomedical intervention acceptability and user preferences, and he has published extensively on determinants of PrEP uptake and persistence. Evidence of impact to the field is exemplified by his selection as a recipient of the “HIV and Sexual Health Early Career Award” from the Society of Behavioral Medicine in 2023. As Co-Director of the Prevention and Implementation Sciences Training (PAIST) Lab, Dr. John is committed to fostering a pipeline of diverse early career researchers.
Dr. John is PI of two active NIH-funded projects. “OnPOINT” is a pilot intervention of an mHealth strategy to promote HIV self-testing and PrEP uptake among young sexual minoritized men. “3T-Prevent” is a multi-level implementation project focused on expanding prescribing practices of evidence-based HIV/STI treatment and prevention.
