Biography
Dr. Himanshu Agrawal was born in New Delhi, India and spent his childhood living with his family in Bangladesh, London, Moscow, and Nepal. He attended medical school at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, and then moved to Minnesota to pursue residency and fellowship training. Dr. Agrawal is board-certified in both general psychiatry and the sub specialty of child and adolescent psychiatry. He maintains a specific interest in psychodynamic approaches. He also holds specific interest in community psychiatry and is a firm believer in the bio-psycho-social model of mental health. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and the Indo-American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Agrawal has also given many presentations on a wide range of psychiatry and mental health topics.
Prior to joining MCW, Dr. Agrawal spent eight years working at a residential treatment center for children and adolescents at Northwest Passage in Northwestern Wisconsin and then served as the clinical director at the Maple Grove site for Prairie Care in Minnesota.
Dr. Agrawal sees adult patients at the Tosa Center clinic and children and adolescents at the child psychiatry clinic at the Children's Wisconsin campus. He is also part of the Psychiatry Psychosomatic Consultation/Liaison team at Froedtert Hospital. He is also a candidate in psychoanalytic training at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Institute.
