Biography

Hi Everyone! My name is Nicole Holzhauer and I grew up in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in May 2022 with a BS in Genetics, Cell Biology & Development and minor in Neuroscience. I was lucky to hear about genetic counseling early on at a health sciences career fair and pursued shadowing opportunities and related classes throughout my four years. I worked in a research lab with nucleic acids, I was a TA for both a neuroscience and computer literacy course, and I worked for the UMN medical school residency program. I also volunteered as a crisis text counselor some evenings for Crisis Text Line and participated in Best Buddies' "eBuddies". Following graduation, I decided to stay in Minnesota to work at M Health Fairview as a clinic coordinator in the cardiovascular clinic. I will continue to work this position part-time throughout grad school.

In my free time I love to exercise whether it's running, weight lifting, playing soccer, or doing yoga. I love cooking and baking new recipes, reading, and spending time with my friends and family. I also love to travel whenever I have the chance!

I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the 3rd cohort at MCW and move back to my home state. I can't wait to see what experiences, connections, and memories the next two years bring!
