Biography
Dr. Jonathan Bock is a fellowship-trained, board certified Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon who has a clinical interest in treating patients with voice and throat disorders. Dr. Bock graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2001, and won numerous awards and honors during his medical school training. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa in 2008, including a 2-year NIH-funded research fellowship studying the molecular biology of head and neck cancers. Work during this research fellowship lead to multiple publications and three United States patents. Following his residency in Otolaryngology, Dr. Bock completed a fellowship in Laryngology & Care of the Professional Voice with Dr. Robert Ossoff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. During this time, Dr. Bock focused his clinical work on voice and swallowing disorders, as well as the special concerns that arise in caring for voice professionals of all types. His practice is centered on the care of diseases of the larynx, including treatment of patients with voice concerns, from professional musicians to teachers. He also treats patients with airway stenosis, spasmodic dysphonia, vocal cord paralysis, head and neck cancers, and swallowing disorders. As an academic physician-scientist Laryngologist, Dr. Bock is involved in the instruction of residents and medical students on a daily basis, and he enjoys the academic environment that drives the care of patients at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He continues to perform active research within the department, focusing on the molecular biology of head and neck cancers and laryngeal pathologies. Dr. Bock’s interest in Laryngology and voice disorders stems from his personal interest in music. He is an accomplished pianist, guitarist, and singer, and continues to perform music on a regular basis. He sang extensively in music groups during his time in college at Yale, including a performance at Carnegie Hall with the Yale Whiffenpoofs.
Dr. Bock believes that every patient deserves to be treated with respect and patience, and attempts to explain complex medical problems to his patients in a clear and straightforward manner.
