Biography
In education, Dr. Woehlck was the founding director of the Human Simulator Laboratory in the Department of Anesthesiology, prior to the incorporation of the simulation laboratory into the newly constructed MCW STAR Center. He actively participates in interdisciplinary medical student education.
Dr. Woehlck’s research began in the areas of cardiac arrhythmias, electrophysiology and pharmacology, but now focuses on physical and chemical safety issues primarily related to anesthetic breakdown in desiccated carbon dioxide absorbents. This work includes mathematical modeling of complex ventilatory exchange processes, carbon monoxide poisoning during anesthesia, flammability and combustion of sevoflurane and its breakdown products.
