Biography

Dr. Duo Yu is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Biostatistics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, having joined the institution in the Fall of 2023. Before joining MCW, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Population Health at The University of Texas at Austin.

Research Interests

Big Healthcare Data Mining and EHR Analytics: Mining large-scale healthcare datasets and leveraging Electronic Health Records (EHR) for clinical outcome prediction, employing advanced machine learning, and deep learning techniques.

Machine Learning Interpretability: Developing methods to enhance the interpretability of machine learning models, contributing to the development of more transparent and understandable models.

Integration of Statistics with Deep Learning: Bridging traditional statistical methodologies with cutting-edge deep learning algorithms and developing modern statistical model.

Precision Oncology and Bayesian Patient Subgroup Identification: Advancing precision oncology through Bayesian approaches, with a focus on patient subgroup identification and personalized treatment selection.

Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Disease Transmission: Mathematical modeling of infectious disease transmission, contributing to our understanding of disease dynamics.

Dr. Yu's methodological research is characterized by integration of statistical methods with state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning techniques. She has close collaborations with biomedical scientists, statisticians, and data scientists from various national and international institutes (The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Florida State University, The University of Texas at Austin, Yale University, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University etc.), emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to her work. Besides the faculty position in the Division of Biostatistics, she also works as an PhD level biostatistician in CAPS (center for advancing Population Science) at MCW.
