Research Interests

Cellular biologist exploring cancer and interested in potential cancer-targeted treatment strategies.

Our lab is dedicated to exploring the complex mechanisms underlying Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1). Our primary objective is to decipher the molecular triggers behind the malignant transformation of the NF1- associated tumors existing within the tumor niche. To achieve this, we employ advanced mouse models and patient-derived xenograft models, with a specific focus on identifying intratumor heterogeneity as a potential target for future precision medicine. My current research focuses on understanding the interplay of different receptors and proteins that sustain plexiform neurofibroma and facilitate its transformation into malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors. Given the lack of effective treatments for these conditions, I am also looking into drug repurposing strategies to enhance treatment outcomes in NF1-associated tumors in our in vitro and in vivo models.
