Institutional Biosafety Committee

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is actively committed to preserving the health and safety of its employees, students, and visitors as well as protecting the environment and the community. MCW recognizes that the use of potentially pathogenic microorganisms, potentially infectious materials (e.g. human or non-human primate (NHP) tissue or cells), and organisms containing Recombinant and Synthetic Nucleic Acid molecules (R/SNA) is necessary in many laboratories and facilities. To ensure the safe use of these materials, the MCW Institutional Biosafety Committee reviews all research applications for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
