Biography

April Zehm, MD, is an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine, specializing in hospice and palliative medicine. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2011. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics (Madison, WI), followed by a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, MA). She is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is interested in curriculum development and teaches in a variety of forums for learners across the career continuum, from medical students to practicing clinicians. Her research interests include palliative care education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, specifically about communication skills training.
