Biography
Dr. Deepak Parashar received his PhD in 2016 from the National Institute of Immunology, Delhi/Jaipur National University, Jaipur, India where he focused on the role of SOX4 in the growth and metastasis of cervical cancer. After graduation, he joined in Dr. Chaluvally’s lab as a Postdoctoral fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), Milwaukee, WI. During his postdoc, he studied the role of microRNAs such as miR551b in breast and ovarian cancer progression, and screening of anti-cancer drugs for ovarian cancer treatment. In 2022, he joined Dr. Janz’s laboratory, as an Assistant Professor to work on immuno-oncology and its therapeutic aspects in multiple myeloma (MM) research.
In his current position, he is understanding the role of different microRNAs and transcription factors such as FOXM1 in the tumor immune microenvironment to develop new therapeutic approaches for improving existing immunotherapies. Further, his research involves delineating drug resistance mechanisms in cancer cells and developing nanotechnology-based targeted drug delivery systems to evaluate therapeutic efficacy in preclinical mouse models. In addition, he is also involved in the development of CAR-T cells as a new cancer immunotherapy and a personalized treatment for MM.
Dr. Parashar has published more than 50 manuscripts in well-reputed international journals such as npj Precision Oncology, Cell Reports, Cancer Research, Nature Gene Therapy, Science Advances, Oncoimmunology, and Hematologica and has 10+ years of expertise in cancer research. He is actively involved in the training of postdocs and graduate students and actively serving in the peer review process of numerous journals such as JBC, and Nature Gene Therapy, and also serves as an associate editor in various journals.
