Why HESP?:
Being able to reside in the ThriveOn King building in the Bronzeville area of Milwaukee alongside fellow scholars offers the opportunity to go beyond learning in the traditional academic setting. The ThriveOn community will undoubtedly allow us access to a deeper understanding of the local community's needs and dynamics.

Why are you interested in health equity?:
I grew up in a disadvantaged neighborhood. During that time, my mom began cleaning houses, and I often accompanied her on her jobs. Through experiences like these, I came to understand the significance of social determinants of health. I realized that where we live directly impacts our well-being. This realization fuels my desire to work towards improving the living conditions in my community, particularly for children and their families.

What do you like about Milwaukee?:
My favorite thing about Milwaukee is the close-knit community. Whether it be neighbors coming together for block parties, local businesses supporting each other or community events, Milwaukeeans have a way of making you feel like you belong.
