Biography

Interests and Background

Ellen M. Schumann, MD, MS, FAAP has lived and practiced in the greater Wausau, WI area since 1984.

Dr. Schumann’s 30-year clinical career spans small and large physician-owned multi-specialty group clinics as well as community and critical access hospitals. She has worked as a pediatric hospitalist. She has over 20 years of experience in various leadership roles in both clinic and hospital settings.

She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration.

She serves in her church communities as a lector, cantor, and Eucharistic minister. She was a founding member of the planning committee of the Marathon County Early Years Coalition. Dr. Schumann and her husband, David, have two adult sons. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, movies, and spending time at the lake.

Honors and Awards

Dr. Schumann was named a Woman of Vision by the Wausau YWCA in 2009. The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation honored her as a Champion in Women’s Health in 2011. In 2016, she received a Special Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics for her work in EHDI (Early Hearing Detection & Intervention).
