Dr. Nancy Dahms, Biochemistry Emeritus Professor, Chosen as Distinguished Service Award Recipient
Nancy Dahms, PhD, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, was chosen by MCW as one of the three individuals to receive the 2024 Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is MCW's highest faculty and staff honor, and pays tribute to current or former faculty and staff who have significantly contributed to the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Dahms was chosen to receive this award due to her remarkable career at MCW in research, leadership, mentorship, and stewardship of the institution since 1986. She has been a leader in MCW's educational endeavors, serving as course director of Molecules to Cells, President of Faculty Council, and recipient of numerous teaching and research awards. She has been a pioneer and advocate for women in research, interim chair of the Department of Biochemistry, and her mentorship has translated across the institution. Her community outreach through mentorship of high school SMART teams has made an impact on many students interested in science, and her graduate students are doing great work in science and research.
