Hogan Joins National Library of Medicine’s Board of Scientific Counselors

Dr. William Hogan, the Mary T. and Ted D. Kellner Chair of Data Science and the Director of the Data Science Institute, has joined the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Library of Medicine (NLM). An invitation to serve on the Board of Scientific Counselors for an institute or center at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a recognition of one’s scientific achievements and national reputation. The NLM is one of the 27 institutes and centers at NIH.

“I was pleased to be invited to serve in this vital capacity for the NLM by my colleague Dr. Scheuermann,” said Dr. Hogan.

Dr. Richard Scheuermann is the NLM’s Scientific Director with oversight and direction of the NLM’s intramural research program. The NLM Board of Scientific Counselors reviews the intramural research program of the NLM and its impact and provides advice on its quality and potential future directions. It delivers its recommendations to the NIH Director, NLM Director, and the NLM Board of Regents.

Dr. Hogan will serve a four-year term on the Board.
