MCW Center for Microbiome Research Gnotobiotic Core Facility
The Gnotobiotic Core Facility (GCF) provides state-of-the-art husbandry for axenic (germ-free) and gnotobiotic rodent studies in a dedicated space within the MCW Biomedical Resource Center. The GCF maintains both axenic and gnotobiotic mouse colonies for use by MCW researchers, and assists with gnotobiotic experiments under strict axenic husbandry conditions. Please get in touch with us if you are interested in conducting studies using axenic or gnotobiotic rodent models.
Axenic Mouse Colony
Axenic Mouse Colony
- C57BL/6J axenic mice
- Breeding colony housed within HEPA-filtered isolators
- Mice available for axenic or microbial colonization studies
Gnotobiotic Mouse Colony
Gnotobiotic Mouse Colony
- C57BL/6J mice colonized with defined microbiota (for example, altered Schaedler flora, ASF)
Isolation Husbandry: Axenic and Gnotobiotic Experiments
Isolation Husbandry: Axenic and Gnotobiotic Experiments
- Semi-rigid isolators hold several cages are prepacked and sterilized for axenic or gnotobiotic experiments
Individually ventilated iso-caging is also available for greater flexibility in husbandry - For use with mice from MCW colony or Taconic axenic colony (for other sources please inquire)
