Primary Faculty
Dr. Browne is a Professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Assistant Medical Director (Pediatrics) for Milwaukee County Emergency Medical Services. His duties include work as an emergency physician and EMS Liaison for both the Emergency Department and Trauma Programs at Children’s Wisconsin (CW). He is also active in planning and contributing to disaster planning at CW. Dr. Browne’s current research interests include prehospital pediatric pain management, selective cervical spine immobilization, and pediatric disaster medicine.
Dr. Chinn is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, and currently serves as the Medical Director for Tess Corners Fire Department. He began his medical career as an Emergency Medical Technician with Texas A&M University Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Chinn practices emergency medicine at Froedtert Hospital, where he is the Senior Medical Director for the Emergency Department.
M. Riccardo Colella, DO, MPH, FACEP
Dr. Engel is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. He currently serves as Assistant Medical Director for the Milwaukee County EMS system. After residency, Dr. Engel completed a six-month deployment with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan prior to beginning his EMS Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2019-2020. His medical interests include prehospital physician response, prehospital resuscitation, austere medicine, and mobile integrated health. Dr. Engel remains an active Battalion Surgeon in the Illinois Army National Guard with advising missions throughout Europe.
Dr. Grawey is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. He is the Medical Director for the City of Kenosha Fire Department, as well as the Gateway Technical College EMS program. He is Assistant Medical Director for Milwaukee County's Office of Emergency Management. He also oversees MCW learner's experiences in EMS Medicine and is the Assistant Program Director of the EMS Fellowship. Dr. Grawey's interests lie in EMS education and quality improvement, and he has published research and taught nationally on these topics.
Tim Lenz, MD, MPH, EMT-P, FAEMS, FACEP
Dr. Lenz is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and the EMS Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Lenz practices clinically in the emergency department at Froedtert Hospital. His career began as a first responder for the St. Nazianz Volunteer Fire Department and he worked for over thirteen years with Bell Ambulance in Milwaukee. Dr. Lenz’s work has been presented at the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), National Association of EMS Physicians, and the World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Liu is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at MCW. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Southeast Wisconsin Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition. Dr. Liu was the inaugural National Association of EMS Physicians-Zoll EMS Resuscitation Fellow. His also practices clinically as an emergency physician at Froedtert Hospital. Dr. Liu’s research interests include disaster and mass casualty medicine. His field and policy experience includes past appointments with the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), Wisconsin Hospital Emergency Preparedness Program (WHEPP), and the United States Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services.
Keith Mausner, MD
Dr. Mausner is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He is the Director of Medical Services for Flight For Life, a CAMTS accredited air medical transport service, as well as LifeNet McHenry.
Dr. Weston is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He serves as Chief Health Policy Advisor for Milwaukee County, and is also the Chief Medical Director for the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management, directing medical services for 15 fire departments with 120,000 annual patient encounters. Dr. Weston was recently selected as a fellow to the National Academy of Medicine. He has been featured on MSNBC, CNN, BBC, and in The New York Times and provided medical oversight for the NFL, NBA, MLB, Indycar, and USA Triathlon. He practices clinically in the emergency department at Froedtert Hospital, a level 1 trauma center and is an NIH funded researcher with interests in prehospital care, resuscitation, health equity, and public health surveillance.

Dr. Gesteland is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine.
Jennifer Hernandez-Meier, PhD, MSW
Dr. Hernandez-Meier is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Luetje is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. She is the associate medical director of EDTC Trauma Services and Disaster Medicine for Children’s Wisconsin, as well as the principal investigator for the Wisconsin Pediatric Readiness Program. She is also the Wisconsin lead for Region V for Kids, one of three Pediatric Disaster Centers of Excellence in the United States, funded by the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. Her interests are in pediatric disaster preparedness, pediatric readiness, surge, and trauma response.
Dr. Shepherd is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Shepherd is the Medical Director of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Services at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital. He also serves as the medical director for several community fire departments, including Menomonee Falls, Lisbon, and Richfield. Dr. Shepherd’s pre-hospital interests involve critical care interfacility transports and community paramedicine.
Joel has leadership roles as an EMS Physician Assistant on the Medical Direction team for Milwaukee County EMS.
