The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) understands that everyone has different needs when it comes to benefits, which is why we offer a range of comprehensive, affordable plans that you can customize for you and your family. Your benefits may differ slightly based on full-time or part-time status, as well as position level.

Vision

Health Care Flexible Spending

  • Pre-tax savings account for unreimbursed medical, prescription, dental, vision and other health expenses

Why is this important?
Your contributions are not subject to payroll taxes, which can result in substantial tax savings for you.

Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending

Why is this important?
If you have elder care or child care expenses, this is an excellent way to make your dollars go further by putting aside pre-tax dollars.

Basic Life
High-Level Overview
  • Provided at no cost to eligible employees
  • Faculty, staff physicians and exempt staff receive 1x salary up to $500,000
  • Non-exempt staff & postdoctoral fellows receive 1x salary up to $100,000
  • Travel Assistance coverage included

Why is this important?
Free life and AD&D insurance coverage from MCW helps ensure that your dependent(s) will receive compensation in the event of your unexpected death or dismemberment.

Voluntary Life
High-Level Overview
  • Employees: 1x to 8x salary, up to maximum of $1,000,000
  • Spouses: $5,000 increments; subject to maximum of 3.5x the employee’s Basic Annual Earnings (up to $150,000)
  • Children: $10,000 for each eligible child

Why is this important?
You have the ability to provide additional financial protection for your family in the event of your death.

Disability

  • Amount you receive is based on your employee class and the amount you earned before your disability began

Why is this important?
Payments help protect you from loss of pay as a result of a personal, continuous medical disability.

Employee Assistance Program - EAP

  • Provides no-cost, 24-hour assistance via toll-free number & website, and up to eight in-person sessions per presenting problem

Mandatory 403b
High-Level Overview
  • Generous employer match
  • Eligible employees are automatically enrolled after two years and 100% vested

Why is this important?
The sooner you begin saving a nest egg for retirement, the longer it has to grow, and the better off you will be during your retirement years.

Voluntary 403b

Holiday

Your holidays are New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Sick

  • May be used for illness and the care of the employee’s immediate family member.

Helping to provide a positive work environment, MCW offers paid time off when you need it most for sickness, as well as for jury duty and bereavement.

Paid Parental Leave

High-Level Overview

The Paid Parental Time (PPT) benefit provides up to 4 weeks of paid time (based on base salary) and is available to eligible employees during an approved Family and Medical Leave for maternity, paternity or bonding leave reasons. 

Why is this important?
MCW understands family time is important, especially when an employee is enjoying those first few weeks of being a new parent.  We believe bonding time is necessary for the health and wellbeing of your family. 

Back-Up Care and Family Support

  • Up to ten days per calendar year of high quality temporary care solutions for children, adult and elderly family members
  • Elder care platform to coordinate care of loved ones with family members
  • Online resources to find care providers for off work hours and pets

Why is this important?
Provides peace of mind when you need temporary care for children, adult and elderly family members by offering care services at a significant discount.

Tuition Reimbursement
