MCW Department of Neurology Pediatric Neurocritical Care Fellowship

Welcome from the Program Director, Dr. Niyati Mehta

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our new Pediatric Neurocritical Care (PNCC) Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin! This clinical fellowship program is unique. Nationally, there are less than a dozen programs offering a similar model of care and clinical expertise, and there is a shortage of child neurologists with PNCC expertise.

Approximately twenty percent of critical care medicine admissions are due to a neurological condition. Our 12-month clinical training includes time on the Neurocritical Care consult service, instruction in ICU EEG and neuroimaging interpretation and clinical application, exposure to adult and pediatric neurovascular and endovascular services, as well as pediatric neurorehabilitation. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in active clinical research, multidisciplinary conferences, and education of trainees in Pediatrics and Neurology. We have excellent integration with other services including pediatric critical care medicine, neurosurgery, trauma surgery, epilepsy/ICU EEG, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. We engage in formal educational and academic activities. We have a multidisciplinary follow up clinic.

I hope you consider our comprehensive pediatric neurocritical care fellowship training. Feel free to reach out to me for additional information.
