About the Nelson Laboratory

Led by Principal Investigator Dr. Lindsay Nelson, the Nelson Laboratory works with the Brain Injury Research Program and a host of national and international collaborators evaluating feeling and function after traumatic brain injury with an end goal of improving treatment options and patient outcomes for individuals having experienced traumatic brain injury.

Nelson Lab Research

The Nelson Laboratory studies patients' feeling and function after traumatic brain injury with goals of improving clinical endpoints for translational studies and clinical trials, better understanding patient heterogeneity, and developing patient-centered improvements in patient care. 

Nelson Lab People

Lindsay Nelson, PhD, ABPP

Led by Principal Investigator Dr. Lindsay Nelson, the Nelson Laboratory is comprised of a group internal investigators collaborating with clinical and research partners at local, national and international organizations.

Local collaborators include Inception Health, Froedtert Health, MCW Comprehensive Injury Center, MCW Neuroscience Research Center, as well as investigators in various MCW Departments and Divisions including Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatric and Behavioral Medicine. National collaborators include the Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in Traumatic Brain Injury (TRACK-TBI) Network. International collaborators include members of the Collaborative European NeuroTrauma Effectiveness Research in TBI, also known as CENTER-TBI, and the International TBI Research Initiative, also known as InTBIR.

Nelson Lab Funding

Hub for Collaborative Medicine

Nelson Lab Facilities

The Nelson Lab is Part of the Brain Injury Research Program located in the Hub for Collaborative Medicine on MCW Milwaukee campus. This space provides easy access to a rich pool of resources, including partner institutions such Froedtert Hospitals. In addition, research activities of the lab leverage facilities of the Adult Translational Research Unit of the CTSI of Southeast Wisconsin.
