Medical College of Wisconsin Internal Medicine Residency Women's Health Track
The Women’s Health Track within the MCW Internal Medicine Residency aims to offer interested residents an opportunity to develop their knowledge and skill in the care of women including in addressing sex-specific conditions and those that are more common or present differently in women.
The track is open to residents including categorical and ambulatory residents. Residents will graduate from the program as excellent internists with expertise in women’s health and ready for fellowship or careers as general internists. Residents join in their PGY1 or PGY2 year.
Women's Health Track Highlights
Clinical Training Focused on Women's Health
Residents in their continuity clinic will work with preceptors who have a specific focus in women’s health care. They will also spend one month a year on the ambulatory women’s health elective which will allow them to learn from women’s health experts in a variety of clinical fields such as gynecology, oncology, psychiatry, endocrine, cardiology, and more. There are also opportunities to learn women’s health procedures such as IUD and subdermal contraceptive insertion and removal.
Dedicated Didactics
Through a regional community of practice, residents have the opportunity to learn from women’s health experts across the region during a once-a-month noon didactic session that replaces one of the noon conferences.
Women's Health Focused Scholarship
Track residents are expected to complete a scholarly project focused on women’s health which can be broadly defined. This can be in any area of interest to them.
