MCW Mellowes Center Bioinformatics Research Services

About the Bioinformatics Core

The Mellowes Center Bioinformatics Core provides bioinformatics services and collaborative research support to MCW investigators engaged in life science research with a high impact on patient care.

The Core provides support for every stage of bioinformatics analyses, including study design, data acquisition, data analysis, and publication.

We aim to build a state-of-the-art Bioinformatics Shared Resources (or Bioinformatics Core) with a team of premier analysts/scientists with world-class infrastructure to support world-class research.

Bioinformatics Core Goals

  1. To provide a collection of individuals with interdisciplinary skills in data analysis and data management who are deployed to serve the diverse needs of life science researchers.
  2. To support grant-funded research with a financially sustainable core of highly trained, skilled analysts with the flexibility to cycle on and off research projects as needed.
  3. To facilitate broad and efficient use of centralized institutional cyberinfrastructure resources through local consulting and periodic training.
  4. To collectively maintain software tools, databases, and systems for the common good, improving efficiency of all participants: consultants, students, and faculty.
  5. To educate researchers on “best practice” in the areas of expertise supported by the Core.

Meet the Bioinformatics Team

Our collaborative team is excited to discuss novel projects and unique analyses for NGS experiments of all types. We offer extensive experience in the data analysis of various ‘omics-seq data, including DNA-seq, RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, ChIP-seq, scRNA-seq, and many others. Additionally, the team will share their unique perspective about data analytics with researchers and provide expertise in computational biology, big data management, and essential scripting languages.

To ensure the right analysis for your specific disease or model organism, the team offers development-based bioinformatics analysis services, that include analyzing new sequencing data types, integrating various data types, or re-analyzing existing data. We will meet regularly with your team to ensure the analysis is guided by your hypothesis.

These services further provide novel biological or biomedical insights that can ultimately change the practice of medicine, optimize data-driven healthcare, and ensure every individual benefits from a lifetime of tailored care.
