MCW Mellowes Center 'Omics Research Services
About the 'Omics Research Unit
The Mellowes Center ‘Omics Research Unit provides wet lab services and collaborative research support to MCW investigators engaged in basic and translational life science research.
We focus on design, application, and implementation of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies that will enhance and propel the understanding of disease and ultimately transform patient care.
We aim to provide reliable service and expertise from our team of experienced laboratory scientists who will continue to develop, innovate, and standardize new techniques and assays that support ground-breaking research.
'Omics Research Unit Goals
- Provide reliable, reproducible, and high-throughput processing of next generation sequencing and other ‘Omic assays.
- Support the development and troubleshooting of novel technologies and methodologies to further the future of research and support innovative grant and manuscript submissions.
- Educate and facilitate the broad and efficient use of next generation sequencing through local consulting and periodic training.
- Improve technical practices and economies by maintaining and growing a team of scientists and technologists with not only expertise in sample quality, sample processing, and data collection but also the ingenuity to find and standardize efficiencies in the processes.
Meet the 'Omics Research Team
Led by Angela Mathison, PhD, our highly experienced and enthusiastic team supports and furthers the growth and utilization of next generation sequencing (NGS) and high-throughput assays.
Both Mike Tschannen and Jaime Wendt-Andrae have Molecular Biology Certification from the ASCP and combine for over 45 years of experience in NGS technology and experimental troubleshooting. Dr. Mathison provides expertise from 15 years of research in cancer biology, functional genomics and epigenetic regulation during consultations and ensures experimental design aligns with the expected outcomes.
Our team constantly checks quality to ensure consistent results from our state-of-the-art high-throughput equipment, providing an efficient implementation or development of methodologies for Cancer Genomics, Epigenomics, Molecular Pathology, and many more areas of translational research.
